The reason for this message is that I have a movie opening tonight that I Executive Produced and also act in. It is called, The Final Season, and I am really proud of it. It is being released on 1000+ screens tonight! The money for the production and the PR and Distribution comes largely if not almost entirely from independent investors in Iowa. I absolutely loved the story and I am working very hard to try and help the film find a broad audience. This weekend (like all opening weekends for movies) is critical.
The Final Season is an inspirational baseball movie, set in a small farming town in Iowa and is a very True Story. We made the movie largely for families and sports fans. Our market research has shown that the film, surprisingly, is marketable to Women 25-40 as well. In many ways, it has corny (Iowa corn pun intended), or hokey elements, but every audience that we've shown it to around the country is with the picture and fiercely rooting for it by the final sequence. It challenges the cynical filmgoer and is hopefully a fun and inspirational way to spend 2 hours.
Sony is going to distribute the film on home video/DV and it will absolutely, no question about it, be a successful title for them. But, the film's financial THEATRICAL success will affect me personally and our company, Lava Entertainment's, ability to raise independent finances more easily in the near future. So, I pray all of you will forward a recommendation (if you see fit) to your email address books and go see the movie this weekend if at all possible or at least buy tickets and think of it as a tithe or deposit until you get the movie on DVD. I would offer to pay all of you back, but hopefully that would be too expensive. FINALSEASON.COM AND NORWAYBASEBALL.COM Pretty Please, lend a hand :)
Also, I am excited and intimidated to receive email responses from everyone with a brief update about you and yours and a report on why you hate baseball, movies or me by way of explanation as to why you are not seeing the movie this weekend. And know this, as an Executive Producer I will see the numbers for every screen in America. I know where you all live ... so I'll be watching to see whose been naughty and nice to this special movie!!! Much Love To All And To All An Awesome Opening Weekend...
